Wind Tests in Ohio

April 16, 2002 [] Green Mountain Energy Company has selected a site in central Ohio about 45 miles northeast of Columbus where a tower is being erected to study whether winds there are suitable for generating commercial electricity. The company operates a 10.4 MW wind farm in Garrett, Pennsylvania, about 95 miles east of the Ohio River. The 160 foot testing tower supports instruments, which measure wind speed, direction and frequency. The data will be analyzed by wind consulting firm Springhouse Energy Systems.
