Wind REC’s Bought up by EnergyAustralia

[] Hydro Tasmania and EnergyAustralia have entered into a 10-year, AUD 90 million (USD 69 million) contract for the sale of all Renewable Energy Certificates (REC) and Green Power Rights created by the production of electricity from Hydro’s Woolnorth Wind Farm. The contract will allow EnergyAustralia to meet the country’s requirements for the abatement of greenhouse gases. RECs are created under the Renewable Energy (Electricity) Act of 2000, and Green Power Rights are accredited by the Sustainable Energy Development Authority of New South Wales.
