Wind Farms Slated for Italy

September 6, 2002 [SolarAccess.com] Enel, the former state electricity monopoly, is to build nine more wind-powered generating plants in Italy, despite objections from the lobby against the expanding wind energy production. Enel Greenpower, Enel’s Renewable Energy division, announced Wednesday that the plants will be built in Sicily, Sardinia, Basilicata and Molise and should satisfy the electricity needs of about 130,000 families.
