Wind Farm to Colombia

August 22, 2002 [SolarAccess.com] Colombia’s first wind-powered energy generation project, to be constructed in Alta Guajira, will have a capacity of 20 MW and will cost US$21million. The international tender for the supply of the wind generators and substation will be issued by EPM (Empresas Publicas de Medellin), marking the first step in the development of wind power in the country. The contract calls for the construction, assembling, factory testing, delivery, field assembly and testing of the equipment. EPM is interested in identifying the possibilities of adapting the technology to different conditions in the region.
