Wind Farm is a Milestone for Ontario

The Province of Ontario’s newest wind farm is the first of its kind to be built and brought on line with the help of Ontario’s Renewable Energy Standard Offer Program. The new 10-megawatt (MW), six-turbine facility located in Ravenswood near Grand Bend is one of more than 200 contracts awarded through the program since November 2006.

The Ravenswood project will help Ontario’s wind capacity surpass the 500-MW mark for the first time, providing enough green power for 130,000 homes per year. The project was developed by Sky Generation, in partnership with Bullfrog Power, a renewable energy provider.

“The Government of Ontario recognizes the importance of wind power projects in this province,” said Glen Estill, president and CEO of Sky Generation. “The support of the province’s Renewable Energy Standard Offer Program helped make this project possible.”
