Minneapolis, Minnesota [RenewableEnergyAccess.com] Wind Energy America Inc. recently formed a strategic alliance with Boreal Energy, Inc. to enable Wind Energy America to make strategic investments in wind projects in the best wind locations in the U.S.
Boreal Energy, a Minnesota based company that specializes in owning, operating and developing wind energy production facilities in North America, intends to establish and actively manage a wind energy portfolio.
“If we had to choose one group to aid us in developing and implementing our plan it would be Boreal Energy, which has established a team with over 35 years of energy experience,” said Robert Williams, Chairman of Wind Energy America. “They have a growing pipeline of 1200 MW, a significant portion of which is late stage or even pre-construction. This will provide us with immediate and significant opportunities to participate in high quality wind power projects.”
Under this alliance, Wind Energy America intends to provide funding for fifty percent of the cost associated with upgrading a strategic Buffalo Ridge substation. In return, Wind Energy America will be allowed to participate in selected Boreal Energy projects at a preferential rate.
“Our major current focus is to educate the investment community about this exciting opportunity,” said Greg Jaunich of Boreal Energy. “The European market participants seem to clearly understand the metrics as evidenced by the recent $2.15 billion purchase by Energais de Portugal, S.A. (EDP) of Horizon Wind Energy. They have seen first hand what is just beginning to unfold here.”
