Wedding Present for the Environment

Kate Narburgh and Rich Iovanna have tied the knot in what is believed to be the first green-powered wedding in the United States.

OXON HILL, Maryland, US, 2001-10-31 [] The bride and groom both work for the U.S. Environment Protection Agency and share strong environmental values. So it was fitting that one of Narburgh’s colleagues presented a wedding gift of Green Tags from the Bonneville Environmental Foundation. The gift offsets pollution that is associated with the electricity used for the wedding by supporting development of new green power. Green power is electricity generated from renewable energy sources, as opposed to traditional generation from burning fossil fuel which is the largest industrial source of air pollution in the U.S.
