Milwaukee, Wisconsin [RenewableEnergyAccess.com] We Energies has selected Alliant Energy WindConnect as the general contractor for the Blue Sky Green Field wind project in northeast Fond du Lac County. We Energies expects this investment in renewable energy to total approximately $300 million.
The project, which includes 88 wind turbines, is expected to be commercially generating power within one year from the start of activities at the site. Project construction will begin in June 2007, with the first activities including road building, cable installation, and foundation work. The first turbine equipment is expected to arrive in November 2007.
“WindConnect is excited to be selected by We Energies to develop this landmark renewable energy project. Through the hard work and dedication of our experienced Wisconsin team, we are committed to its successful completion,” said WindConnect Vice President Frank Greb.
The effort will also include several major Wisconsin contractors who will work on the project for Madison-based WindConnect. Waukesha Electric Systems of Waukesha has been awarded the contract to manufacture and install the main substation transformer.
WindConnect, the trade name of a business operated by Alliant Energy EPC, LLC, has provided design-build services at 24 wind energy facilities in 17 states since 1999.
