Vestas to Supply 45 Wind Turbines to Italy

Randers, Denmark [] The Vestas Group has received an order from Italian Vento Power Corporation (IVPC) for three turnkey wind power plants to supply 55.5 MW on the Italian market — two of the wind power plants will be located on Sicily and one in the Puglia region. The order calls for 30 units of the V52 850-kW turbine and 15 units of the V80 2.0-MW turbine. All three wind-power plants are expected to be fully commissioned by the end of 2006. IVPC, which is responsible for the development of 38 percent of the Italian electricity coming from wind energy, is a long-standing customer of Vestas and has an installed capacity of 661.42 MW in Italy, of which Vestas has delivered 632 MW. The three wind power plants will meet the energy needs of approximately 95,000 Italian families and will save the environment from more than 61,000 tons of CO2 emissions per year.
