Houston, Texas [RenewableEnergyAccess.com] Vestas has received an order for 55 units of the V82-1.65 MW from Duke Energy. The turbines, which have a total installed capacity of 91 megawatts, will be delivered as the first phase of the Notrees Windpower project, located in Ector and Winkler counties in Texas.
Vestas will supply and commission the 55 wind turbines and provide service and maintenance for three years. The turbines are scheduled for delivery in the second half of 2008, and commissioning is expected to be completed at the end of 2008. The project is being developed and will be owned and operated by Duke Energy.“Texas is currently the leading wind state in the USA in terms of installed MW, and clearly demonstrates how wind power brings not only clean and renewable energy, but also increased economic activity and local jobs to a state or a community,” said Jens Soby, President of Vestas Americas A/S. “We are very much looking forward to working with Duke Energy on the Notrees Windpower project.”
