Vestas Contracts for Nebraska Wind Farm

[RenewableEnergyAccess.com] RES America Construction of Texas has contracted Danish wind turbine manufacturer Vestas for an order of 36, 1.65 MW wind turbines. The turbines are scheduled to go to Nebraska, where they will help to power a 32 MW wind farm owned by the Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD). NPPD won approval to build the wind farm in August 2004, and has conditional approved to expand the farm to 60 MW if the utility can find partners for the project. Vestas will supply and commission the wind turbines, which will be located in the north central part of the state near the town of Ainsworth, Nebraska. The 60-MW wind power plant, which also includes a two-year service, maintenance and warranty agreement, will be installed and commissioned by summer 2005.
