Vermont Governor Cool to Wind Energy Projects

[Rutland Herald] Gov. James Douglas is expected to issue a proclamation this week declaring October “Wind Energy Month.” Administration spokesman Jason Gibbs says the governor is in favor of wind energy only if it is developed on a “Vermont scale.” The state’s wind energy proponents, though, say this caveat proves the governor is straddling the fence — or ridgeline — on the hot topic of wind energy development in the Green Mountains. The governor, wind energy supporters say, has been discouraging development of the type and size that would make a difference for Vermont’s energy future.
