Vectren to Add Renewable Wind Energy to Electric Generation Portfolio

Evansville, Indiana [] Vectren Energy Delivery of Indiana filed a request April 9 with the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission (IURC) seeking authority to buy 30 megawatts (MW) of wind energy from an Indiana wind farm. Plus, the company has requested authority to implement a new green power program that will permit its electric customers to purchase energy from the new wind energy source. Residential and small commercial customers may subscribe to the green power program through the purchase of green energy blocks of 100 kilowatt-hour (kWh) at a fixed monthly rate. This fee will be in addition to the customer’s regular monthly electric charges. All customers, regardless of whether they choose to buy green power, will have the option to contribute $1 or more monthly toward a renewable energy investment fund.
