UL Acquires AWS Truepower

Global safety science provider UL has acquired AWS Truepower in a move that will strengthen UL’s full lifecycle solutions for the wind and solar energy sectors.

Albany, N.Y.-based AWS Truepower provides renewable energy services through five business units covering project advisory, performance engineering, due diligence, information services and grid solutions.

“UL and AWS Truepower have a shared mission and complementary businesses,” Jeffrey Smidt, VP and general manager for UL Energy & Power Technologies, said in a Sept. 27 statement. “As the market for renewable energy increases and demands a full life cycle service offering for renewable energy projects, the combined portfolios enable us to capture additional business globally.”

According to UL, AWS Truepower’s employees will join UL and remain with the company. AWS Truepower will continue operating under its current brand name for now.
