The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) invites expressions of interest to serve as lenders engineer to oversee rehabilitation of major hydroelectric projects in the Ukraine. Responses are due January 14, 2014.
In addition, the projects’ owner, PJSC UkrHydroEnergo, seeks bids for turbine-generator rehabilitation at the 225-MW Kyiv (or Kiev) pumped-storage project and the 651-MW Dnipro 1 hydroelectric project. Those bids are due March 18.
The work is part of ongoing Ukrainian hydro project rehabilitation funded by EBRD, the World Bank and European Investment Bank. UkrHydroEnergo took bids in September for turbine-generator repairs and control upgrade at the 444-MW Kaniv hydroelectric project on the Dnieper River. It took bids in April for rehabilitation of generators at the 686-MW Kremenchuk and 661-MW Dnipro 2 projects on the Dnieper.
The utility plans to extend project life with replacement of equipment and dam safety work at six hydroelectric projects: Kaniv, Kremenchuk (or Kremenchug), Dnipro 1 and 2 (or Dnieper or Dnieprovska 1 and 2), Kyiv, and 352-MW Dniprodzerzhinsk (or Dniprodzerzhynsk or Dnieprojerzinsk). UkrHydroEnergo awarded a contract in 2009 to Ukraine turbine manufacturer Turboatom to supply replacement turbines for Kaniv, Dnipro 2, Kyiv, and Dniprodzerzhinsk.
EBRD now invites expressions of interest from consultants to serve the banks as lenders engineer for the rehabilitation program, which is expected to total 614.6 million euros (US$845.7 million). The lenders engineer is to monitor project progress and ensure compliance with bank policies and rules. Valued at 450,000 euros (US$619,240), the work is to be carried out between March 2014 and May 2017, with a possibility of extension subject to funding.
Expressions of interest are to include experience, qualifications and a completed contact sheet that may be obtained from the EBRD Internet site under www.ebrd.com/pages/workingwithus/procurement/notices/csu/contact_sheet.doc.
Expressions of interest in English are due January 14, via EBRD’s eSelection website, https://eselection.ebrd.com/suite.
