The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers seeks bids for turbine cavitation repair at the 58-MW Clarence Cannon Dam hydroelectric project in northeast Missouri. Bids are due Feb. 6.
The Corps’ St. Louis District requested information last year on firms able to perform turbine cavitation repair. It took bids in 2012 for supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system work at Clarence Cannon on the Salt River and two other Corps hydro projects in Missouri. It awarded a contract to Tarlton Corp. in 2011 for repair and repainting of tainter gates and bulkheads at Clarence Cannon.
The Corps now seeks bids to perform cavitation repair on a Francis turbine runner at the project. The work is to include base repairs of the runner crown, band and blades with a stainless steel overlay, replacement of packing on 28 wicket gates, cleanup and disposal of grease in the turbine pit.
