The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers seeks information on firms capable of providing emergency rehabilitation or replacement of hydroelectric turbines, generators, and pump motors in the Corps’ Northwestern Region. Responses are due Dec. 31.
The Corps’ Portland District said it is preparing to advertise a multiple-award indefinite-delivery indefinite-quantity contract to perform emergency non-routine inspection, rehabilitation, and/or replacement services for hydroelectric turbines, generators, and large pump motors at facilities in the Northwestern Region. The Portland District took bids in September for development of an organizational management study of restructuring the Corps’ Hydroelectric Design Center Generic Maintenance Team.
In a sources sought notice, the Portland District now seeks information on firms able to work on turbines, generators, pumps, and pump motors of at least 500 horsepower as well as water passage and closure devices and their control units. Turbines would include Kaplan units of at least 90 inches in diameter and Francis units of at least 39 inches in throat diameter.
The Corps said its intent is to expedite rehabilitation and replacement of deteriorated and failed major mechanical and electrical equipment by securing contracts for a base year and four option years. Hydro facilities are located in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, North Dakota, South Dakota, Colorado, Nebraska, Kansas, and Missouri.
