Alstom has been awarded a contract with Enel Green Power Mexico for the supply and commissioning of 34 wind turbines at the new 3 MW Sureste I–Stage II power generation plant in the Tehuantepec Isthmus, Oaxaca, Mexico.
The Sureste I, Stage II wind farm, which will be fully operational at the end of 2014, will generate more than 350 GW/h a year, equivalent to the total amount of energy used by more than 60,000 people, as well as reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 238 metric tons a year. The installed capacity of wind power in Mexico is currently 1.4 GW, having established a target of 12 GW by the year 20201.
The wind farm will be equipped with 3 MW wind turbines, from Alstom’s ECO 100 wind turbine platform.
