Paris, France [RenewableEnergyAccess.com] EDF Energies Nouvelles has announced the signature of a five-year operations and maintenance contract with MidAmerican Energy Company. This contract covers four wind farms with 508.5 megawatts (MW) of total capacity or 339 wind turbines.
The contract signed by enXco, the U.S. subsidiary of EDF Energies Nouvelles, and MidAmerican Energy covers the management, operation and maintenance of four wind farms owned by MidAmerican Energy in the Midwest. Some of the facilities have been developed and built by enXco—the latest example being the 123 MW Pomeroy wind farm currently under construction and its 75 MW extension.
EDF Energies Nouvelles’ operations and maintenance (O&M) services has enabled the company to optimize and safeguard the long-term future of its production assets. This activity, which is carried out on behalf of third parties, is a source of additional recurring income.
The O&M business generates medium-term contracts and helps to offer a complete service—from the development to the management of wind farms—to US electricity companies wishing to own their power-generating facilities.
The four wind farms under the contract are: the 150 MW Wall Lake Wind Farm; the 123 MW Pomeroy Wind Farm; a 75 MW extension to the Pomeroy Wind Farm; and the 94 MW Goodnoe Wind Farm.
