BC Hydro seeks turbine inlet valves for 158-MW Cheakamus hydro project

Canadian utility BC Hydro seeks bids to supply replacement turbine inlet valves for the 158-MW Cheakamus hydroelectric project in British Columbia. A site visit is scheduled Sept. 16 with bids due Oct. 15.

BC Hydro built Cheakamus in 1957 on the Cheakamus River near Squamish, B.C.

The utility recently called for bids by Sept. 15 to replace generator switchgear at the 180-MW Bridge River 1 hydro project. It awarded a contract in August to Morgan Construction and Environmental Ltd. for site preparation at the 1,100-MW Peace River Site C hydropower project.

BC Hydro now seeks bids for design, supply, delivery, installation, testing and commissioning of turbine inlet valves and related equipment for Cheakamus Units 1 and 2. Installation is to begin in November 2017.
