Successful Trial of Vertical Access Design

March 29, 2004 [] UK-based Eurowind Developments said they have run a number of successful field trials of their self starting Vertical Axis Wind Turbine blade design. The trials, held over the last six weeks were carried out using a scaled down test rig (1.4m blade length X 1.6m rotor diameter) in various wind and weather conditions. Eurowind Developments plan to build a demonstration machine of at least 3 MW within 3 years and to be marketing a range of machines (1MW to 10MW output) within 5 years and are currently seeking potential backers for this project.
