Solar Industry Forms Political Action Committee

[RenewableEnergyAccess.com] Made official at the recent Solar Power 2005 conference, the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) has formed a solar industry Political Action Committee. A solar PAC will “add a new dimension for the industry to be effective in our strategic goals and expand our political clout,” said a statement from SEIA. “Like the wind, nuclear, and conventional energy industries, we will now be able to support politicians who are champions for our industry, and do so in a way that elected officials deeply appreciate and remember.” Before SEIA may begin soliciting contributions, they must obtain corporate approval from a company’s voting representative to SEIA. The group has consulted with the Federal Election Commission on the details of gaining corporate approval and will be sending all SEIA voting representatives information this coming week. For more information, e-mail SEIA’s Director of Communications, Noah Kaye at nkaye@seia.org.
