Hamburg, Germany [RenewableEnergyAccess.com] REpower Systems AG will be delivering 20 wind energy turbines of the MM82 type to the southern Italian region of Apulia as part of the agreement with the French EDF Energies Nouvelles (EDF EN) that involves the delivery of up to 140 wind energy turbines of the 2-megawatt (MW) class in European key markets until the end of 2008.Based on this, both companies will mutually expand their partnership in the years ahead. This shipment of 20 MM82 turbines is for a project named Minervino, which is to have an overall output of 40 MW, with each tower 80 meters (m) high and a rotor diameter of 82 m. Erection should begin from July 2007 and be completed by the end of next year. REpower Systems AG will carry out the project with its wholly owned subsidiary Italia S.l.r. “We are already one of the established players in Italy and are looking forward to further implement larger projects here,” said Carlo Schiaparelli, Managing Director of REpower Italia, on the conclusion of the contract. “Furthermore, the agreement with EDF EN also comprises an option for seven additional MM82 turbines,” he added. The head office of REpower Italia is located in Milan, Italy, while its service and maintenance center is in Foggia, approximately 60 kilometers away from the Minervino site, enabling this project to receive optimum local support.
