REpower and EDF EN Agree on 280 MW of Wind Turbines

A renewed contract between REpower Systems AG and the French EDF Energies Nouvelles (EDF EN), a subsidiary of Europe’s energy supplier EDF, calls for the supply of up to 140 wind energy turbines of the 2-megawatt (MW) class to the European key markets of Germany, France, Belgium, Great Britain, Italy and Portugal before the end of 2008.

“Our high quality requirements are paying off. Again one of the most important wind developers has chosen us as key supplier,” said Prof. Dr. Fritz Vahrenholt, the CEO of REpower Systems AG. A project list for the supply of up to 140 turbines of the REpower MM series has already been defined in the contract. In total, this list comprises 12 projects that are reserved for REpower and are expected be realized in 2007 and 2008. Once the contract has entered into force, the first projects shall be Luc sur Orbieu windfarms in France (eight MM70 turbines in Departement Aude, Languedoc-Roussillon region) and the “Bicker” project in the UK (13 MM82 turbines in Lincolnshire). By signing the framework agreement, both companies envision extending their strategic partnership in connection with the realization of wind energy projects in the years to come. Common business activities shall also be expanded to Eastern and Southern Europe from 2008. “The contract with REpower is a key for our development in Europe and a natural milestone in our long-term relationship with one of the leading turbine suppliers,” says the COO of EDF EN, Yvon Andre.
