Public Hearing for Proposed Cape Wind Project

[] The Cape Cod Commission will conduct a hearing to solicit public comments on the adequacy of the Draft Environmental Impact Statement/Draft Environmental Impact Report (DEIS/DEIR) prepared for the wind-energy project in Nantucket Sound proposed by Cape Wind Associates. The hearing will take place on Tuesday night, February 8, 2005, in the auditorium of the Mattacheese Middle School at 400 Higgins Crowell Road in West Yarmouth, Massachusetts. The hearing will begin at 6 p.m. with brief presentations from Cape Wind Associates and Cape Cod Commission staff. Public testimony will begin at about 6:30 p.m. and will end at 11 p.m. Members of the public interested in speaking at the hearing may sign up starting at 5:15 p.m. and are asked to arrive no earlier than 5 p.m. The Commission is conducting a joint review of the proposed project with the Massachusetts Environmental Policy Act (MEPA) office. Tuesday’s public hearing will help the Commission write a comment letter on the project to be sent to Massachusetts Secretary of Environmental Affairs Ellen Roy Herzfelder. The Commission will post its staff report on the Web site listed below.
