Public Access to RE System Data

As distributed generation systems are installed across the United States, those in New York State will soon be connected through a Web-based system.

Albany, New York – November 25, 2002 [SolarAccess.com] New York State Energy Research Development Authority (NYSERDA) has contracted with Connected Energy Corp. for the first phase of an energy operations information Web site for distributed power generating facilities. This Web technology, called Central Operating Management System (COMSYS), will provide the public information on high efficiency energy generation. By launching the public access Web site, Connected Energy Corp and NYSERDA seek to educate potential users and the public, about the financial and technological applicability of advanced energy systems. The COMSYS system monitors and logs operating data from on-site generator systems to provide users, and soon the public, a detailed view of the technology’s operations and efficiency. These leading technologies include combined heat and power plants with internal combustion gensets, fuel cells, micro turbines and wind and solar generators. The COMSYS system offers remote, two-way equipment management capability, and also provides management access to historical data and reports, enabling comparisons with similar operations. A touch-screen demonstration terminal will be available in the lobby of NYSERDA’s Albany headquarters. Public access to the data, by the Internet, will be available in a few months through NYSERDA’s Web site.
