Offshore Wind Hostilities Increase in Long Island

While the U.S. lags behind Europe with as-of-yet no wind offshore wind farms installed, the same hostilities that have plagued the Cape Wind project up in Massachusetts are now being echoed down the coast in Long Island, New York. A host of critics, including wealthy coastal landowners, are trying to prevent the Long Island Power Authority from constructing a proposed 140 MW project slated for construction in 2008.
