LIPA Issues Request for Information

August 27, 2002 []The Long Island Power Authority (LIPA) seeks to purchase wind power (energy, capacity, any ancillary services, and potentially environmental attributes) from a wind power project to be developed off the southern shore of Long Island. Such an offshore wind power project would be among the first to be constructed in the United States and the first to be constructed as the result of a solicitation for offshore wind power. Prior to issuing a formal Request for Proposals (RFP) for wind power, LIPA is issuing this Request for Information (RFI). The purpose of the RFI is to solicit information from the wind power industry in order to prepare an RFP with appropriate terms, conditions and other information to encourage the submission of high quality proposals from capable wind power developers. Responses are due no later than September 25, 2002. Responses should be sent to both Dan Zaweski and Steve Hastie.
