Boston, United States [RenewableEnergyWorld.com] WindPole Ventures LLC has executed an agreement with Invenergy Wind Development LLC to provide wind resource data in support of Invenergy’s wind power development and operations. Under the agreement, WindPole will equip towers in six states to generate wind resource data for Invenergy. WindPole will use a national portfolio of tall towers including 1,200 towers formerly in ATT’s microwave relay network.
“The agreement with Invenergy advances WindPole’s mission of providing real-time, hub height wind resource data”, said Steve Kropper, WindPole’s CEO. “We are focused on building out 580 sites to meet the forecasting needs of 85% of all current and planned wind generation assets.”
Invenergy is one of the top five largest wind energy generators in the United States. WindPole is focused on providing superior raw wind resource data to ISOs, power traders, wind developers and operators, plus analysts and government agencies.
“Accurate wind data is critical in siting projects and forecasting output at existing projects. Today’s repurposed airport and consumer wind data have their limitations,” said Jim Shield, Invenergy’s senior vice president of development. “WindPole’s tall towers should provide better data for grid integration, and to meeting the national goal of 20% wind by 2030.”
