Green Firm Buys Wind Power Certificates

October 3, 2003 [] Seattle, Washington-based Paladino & Company, a green building consulting firm, has purchased 15,000 kWh of American Wind, a blend of wind power certificates from new wind farms nationwide. The purchase of this wind power will offset all the effects of electricity now used in the firm’s offices. According to Paladino & Company Vice President Paul Paladino, the green power purchase will avoiding the creation of 24,300 pounds of carbon dioxide air pollution, which is the equivalent to not driving a car 30,375 miles. The company has served as consultant on Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) projects that have also used wind power, such as the J. Richard Carnall Center in Delaware.
