Green Energy for Clean Green Expo

New Hope Natural Media will demonstrate its commitment to the environment by purchasing 100 percent wind energy for the upcoming Natural Products Expo West at the Anaheim Convention Center, March 6 – 9, 2003.

San Francisco, California – March 5, 2003 [] New Hope will power the Natural Products Expo with clean, Renewable Energy by purchasing Green Certificates, marketed by 3 Phases Energy Services, in an amount equal to 100 percent of the energy used by the Expo, or 125,000 kWh. This power will be generated by a wind facility in Oregon and will prevent 167,625 lbs of CO2, a key greenhouse gas, from entering the earth’s atmosphere. According to climate control experts, this commitment is equal to planting a full 10,000 trees, not burning 50 tons of coal, or not driving 188,497 miles. “New Hope and the Natural Products Expo are dedicated to discovering and bringing to market new innovative ways to live in harmony with the earth” says Jo Dickson, Coordinator for the Natural Products Expo West 2003. “Purchasing Renewable Energy to power the Expo is a natural extension of the core principles behind all that we do.” The Natural Product Expo is the world’s largest natural and organic product industry exposition and conference. Approximately 30,000 industry members will profit from three days in the exhibit hall, featuring over 2,400 booths, which represent natural and organic foods, vitamins and supplements, personal care products, environmentally aware products, and sustainable construction and finished materials showcased in the Green Building Marketplace and the demonstration Store of the Future. “New Hope’s decision is the simplest, lowest cost and most logical choice for Renewable Energy,” says Dan Kalafatas, Director of Green Certificates for 3 Phases. “We applaud the Expo for its environmental leadership, and encourage other events and Natural Products Expo attendees to join them in working with 3 Phases to create a more Renewable Energy future.” Green Certificates represent the benefits of new Renewable Energy generation and are sold separately from the electricity. When a customer buys these certificates, they buy the environmental benefits of renewable generation, namely the benefits created when conventional fuels, such as coal, nuclear, oil, or gas, are displaced from the electricity system. Green Certificates qualify for certified LEED points toward US Green Building Council standards. New Hope Natural Media is matching the environmental benefits of Green Certificates with the electricity they are purchasing from the regional electricity grid to obtain 100 percent of the benefits of Renewable Energy generation. 3 Phases Energy Services offers a suite of 100 percent clean, Renewable Energy services and solutions, including Green-e certified Green Certificates, Renewable Energy direct access, and solar photovoltaic installation services.
