Germany’s Pfleiderer AG Enters Wind Turbine Market

A new entrant to the wind turbine manufacturing industry has been set up by the German manufacturing group, Pfleiderer AG.

FRANKFURT, Germany, DE, 2001-09-14 [] Pfleiderer Wind Energy was created last December to assemble onshore wind turbines at its new Coswig factory in the Dresden region, and expects annual revenue of 160 million euros (US$146 million) by the end of 2004. It will market its 600 kW to 1.5 MW turbines mainly in Italy, Greece and Asia. Generator units, transmission systems and housings will be pre-assembled at the new Coswig facility, with final assembly of rotor blades and tower on site. Pfleiderer, already known as a supplier of turbine towers, will supply complete wind energy systems and is negotiating contracts to supply 5 MW of offshore turbines using the Multibrid technology currently used in its onshore systems. The company manufactures wooden panels, doors, windows and insulation, and is involved in rail traffic and telecommunications. It has 36 production sites in eight countries, with 9,200 employees.
