GE Wind Turbines for Japanese Wind Farm

October 27, 2003 [] GE Wind Energy is supplying 20 of its 1.5 MW wind turbines to Rokkasyomura Wind Development Co., a subsidiary of Japan Wind Development (JWD) Co. Ltd., for its Rokkasho-mura Wind Project — soon to become one of Japan’s largest wind power installations, said GE Wind. The project is currently under construction in Rokkasho-mura, located in the eastern part of Aomori Prefecture, approximately 50 kilometers north of the city of Misawa. When the project is completed later this month, the power will be purchased by Tohoku Electric Power Company under a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA). The project will add 30 MW of clean, wind energy capacity to the Japanese electricity grid.
