GE Signs 300-MW Turbine Deal with Iberdrola

Iberdrola will acquire 200 General Electric 1.5-megawatt (MW) wind turbines for delivery in 2010 for projects in the United States. The U.S. projects related to the turbine deal have a total cost of development of around EUR 430 million [US $677.5 million], Iberdrola said.

This agreement with GE follows a previous purchase by Iberdrola of 300 MW from Mitsubishi in the context of a framework agreement, scheduled for delivery in 2010 in the United States, and 700 MW from Suzlon Wind Energy Corporation for delivery between 2008-2009.

The deal also means Iberdrola has covered its turbine requirements up to 2010, in line with the objectives of its 2008-10 Strategic Plan.
