Games Energies Looks to Expand

April 25, 2002 [] Spanish wind energy group Gamesa Energia, plans to triple its installed power, to 1,380 MW by 2004 by expanding internationally. At present it is studying the potential of 514 sites. In addition to Spain, it is looking at building wind farms in Portugal, Italy, Greece, France, Brazil, Mexico, the Dominican Republic, Australia and China. The company currently has 18 wind farms in operation, all of which in Spain. In 2001 the group signed finance deals for a total of €723.7 million (US$643 million).
