First Phase Completed for Calgary Wind Farm

Canada’s Gemini Corporation announced construction completion for the first major phase of construction of its first wind energy project. The project is undergoing construction for Kettle Hills Wind Energy Inc. located in southern Alberta. Once completed it will boast 63 MW of installed capacity.

In this first phase, Gemini’s subsidiary, Kinetic Projects Inc., completed the civil construction work for the turbines and substation. The energy generated from this installation will be delivered to Alberta’s provincial power grid. It is anticipated that further opportunities to participate in this project will be available as the second phase is completed over the coming months. Gemini is aggressively pursuing additional opportunities in this active market and currently has several proposals outstanding. “We have been approached by a number of wind energy developers to provide input into their project planning activities,” said Carl Johnson, Gemini’s President and CEO. “Our broad range of expertise and full service capabilities position us as a strong participant in the burgeoning wind energy sector.” Diversification into renewable energy development is a key component of Gemini’s growth strategy. The demand for low-impact, renewable energy sources and wise environmental solutions for various industries is expected to continue growing and developing. Gemini intends to apply its expertise to these areas and target specific energy and environmental project opportunities.
