California, United States [RenewableEnergyWorld.com] enXco this week announced that commercial operation of the 106-megawatt (MW) Hoosier Wind project, which will deliver electricity into the Indianapolis Power & Light Company (IPL) generation portfolio, has begun.
The Hoosier Wind Project, located near Fowler Indiana in Benton County, consists of 53 REpower turbines each with a rated capacity of 2 MW.
IPL signed a 20-year Power Purchase Agreement in April 2008 with construction commencing in April 2009. enXco Service Corporation will provide operations and maintenance services.
“Indiana has great potential for future project developments, and we look forward to being a continued partner with the communities and IPL to increase wind generating capacity in the state,” said Steve Peluso, VP of enXco Midwest Development.
This project brings enXco’s gross installed wind energy capacity to 965.4 MW.
