enXco Signs 100.5-MW Deal with MEC

enXco and MidAmerican Energy Company announced that they have signed an agreement to build a 100.5-megawatt (MW) wind facility located in Pottawannamie County, Iowa.

Construction of the Walnut Wind Project, which will use 67 GE 1.5-MW turbines will begin mid-June 2008 and is scheduled for completion by the end of 2008.The Walnut Wind Project will be transferred to MidAmerican upon completion. enXco said that this project is its fifth working with MEC.

“The Walnut Wind project follows the success of the recently completed 198 MW, 2 phase, Pomeroy project in Iowa. Supporting MEC’s growth in their renewable energy portfolio has been a great experience for enXco,” said Scott Nelson, Assistant Vice President of enXco.
