enXco Commissions 153-MW Walnut Wind Farm

enXco, an EDF Energies Nouvelles Company, and MidAmerican Energy Company have announced the commissioning of the 102 turbines at the 153-megawatt (MW) Walnut Wind Farm. enXco Development Corporation began construction of the Walnut Wind Project, located in Pottawattamie County, Iowa, in June 2008.

MidAmerican Energy Company and enXco agreed last fall to expand the project from 100.5 MW to the current 153 MW. The project, owned by MidAmerican, represents the fifth project built for the group for a total of 595 MW.

“The Walnut Wind Project serves as another example of the solid working relationship between MEC and enXco, and the fast pace the two organizations can bring projects to successful completion. The expansion occurred under similar circumstances to our Pomeroy Project and demonstrated the ability of both organizations to quickly adapt to change,” said Tristan Grimbert, president and CEO of enXco.
