enXco Commissions 100-MW US Wind Farm

EDF Energies Nouvelles (EDFEN) announced that it’s U.S. subsidiary, enXco, has commissioned the Wapsipinicon wind farm.The 100.5-megawatt (MW) facility, which is located in Minnesota, was built using 67 GE Energy turbines. Each turbine is rated at 1.5 MW of generating capacity.

Electricity generated by the project, which was developed and built by enXco, will be sold under a 25-year contract to Southern Minnesota Municipal Power Agency. The agency serves the interests of all the municipally-owned utilities in southern Minnesota.

“The commissioning of the Wapsipinicon wind farm has increased our gross capacity in service to over 713 MW in the United States. It represents a market with tremendous potential,” said David Corchia, CEO of EDFEN.
