Early Stages for Delaware Offshore Wind Bid

April 7, 2004 [SolarAccess.com] Winergy is in the news again. The New York-based wind farm development company drew considerable attention over a year ago when they announced an ambitious and unprecedented number of offshore wind farm plans all along the eastern seaboard. According to reports from the Associated Press, the company has started a pre-application process in Delaware. Since the company’s initial announcements over a year ago, there has been no substantial progress on any of the company’s other 21 wind farm proposals. According to the AP story, this particular project would comprise of 300 individual wind turbine units installed offshore. In related news, Delaware’s General Assembly is considering enacting Renewable Portfolio Standard legislation requiring the state’s electric utilities to source renewable energy power at a certain percentage.
