#MakingHistory: Deepwater Wind Completes Installation of First US Offshore Wind Turbine

Rhode Island Gov. Gina Raimondo (@GinaRaimondo) took to Twitter yesterday to announce the successful installation of the first offshore wind turbine in U.S. waters.

Raimondo wrote: “#MakingHistory: the nation’s first offshore wind tower at #BlockIslandWindFarm is fully installed @DeepwaterWind.”

Deepwater Wind, the developer of the Block Island Wind Farm off the coast of Rhode Island, also shared its progress, tweeting on Aug. 3 that the first nacelle was installed.

The 30-MW, 5 wind-turbine project is scheduled to come online this year.
