Cree Wind Power Project in Canada

Chisabi, Canada [] Yudinn Energy Inc., a wind energy company formed by the Cree Nation of Chisasibi and Ventus Energy Inc., is developing new wind generation facilities along the La Grande River corridor within the traditional lands of Chisasibi in Canada. The electricity to be produced by these facilities is intended for export to New Brunswick, Ontario, and U.S. markets. Recently, Yudinn filed an application with the National Energy Board for the export of 204 megawatts (MW) of wind-generated energy. Earlier, on November 18, 2005, Yudinn also filed an application for environmental assessment of two projects under section 22 of the James Bay and Northern Quebec Agreement. Representatives of Yudinn and Chisasibi met with the Minister of Natural Resources on June 29, 2005, regarding Yudinn’s intention to develop wind-generation facilities in James Bay.
