Chinese Wind Farm Begins Generating

July 19, 2002 [] Twelve wind turbines were put into operation in the Zhangzidao Wind Power Plant in Changhai, China on coastal northeastern China in Liaoning Province. The construction of the 12 generator units was the first phase of the Changhai Wind Power Project, funded by bonds issued by the Ministry of Finance. The second phase of the Project, scheduled to begin in the second half of 2002, consists of the setting up of two wind power plants on the county’s two islands, each with an installed capacity of 3,600 kW. The Dalian-based Power Construction Co., Ltd. is the sole contractor responsible for the project.
