Cape Wind Farm Foes Call for Extended Review

[RenewableEnergyAccess.com] The Alliance to Protect Nantucket Sound has formally requested of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers that it extend its 60-day public comment period on the Cape Wind Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) to 180 days to give the public and concerned organizations an opportunity to analyze the 4000-page document. The comprehensive report was one of the last major hurdles before the final permitting phase for the 420 MW Cape Wind offshore wind farm proposal. The Alliance also requested that the Army Corps postpone its currently scheduled public hearings in December until after the holidays, both to afford the public adequate time to prepare its response as well as the opportunity to attend without conflicts during the holiday season. The four public hearings are set to begin December 6.
