AWEA Welcomes Transmission Legislation

The American Wind Energy Association (AWEA) praised the leadership shown by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) in drafting and introducing major transmission legislation.

“We appreciate Senator Reid’s leadership addressing transmission for our renewable energy future.  Many of the proposals in the AWEA-SEIA white paper on transmission are reflected in this bill.  We look forward to working with Senator Reid, other Members of Congress, states, and other stakeholders to achieve consensus around the three major components that are required to access and deliver significant amounts of renewable energy: interconnection-wide planning, interconnection-wide cost allocation and consolidated permitting,” said Denise Bode, AWEA’s CEO.

RenewableEnergyWorld.com reported on Reid’s intentions to introduce the legislation last month and we will have more details on the impact that the bill will have for the renewable energy industry. Check out the video below to hear Reid’s thoughts on transmission.
