Australian Web Site Promotes RE

The Australian Wind Energy Association, the peak body for wind energy industry in Australia has intensified its campaign to increase the Maditory Renewable Energy Targets set by the government. A new Web site http://www.thewind.info has been launched with up to date information on the current MRET review. The campaign calls on the Australian Government to: Increase targets to 10 percent of total generation of 1997 by 2010; Increase penalties from $40/MWh to $80/MWh; Link Penalties to CPI; Revenue from penalties recycled back either to i) those retailers who have surrendered RECs or ii) fund specific Renewable Energy projects.
