Agreement Reached for New York State Wind Farms

Plattsburgh, New York [PressRepublican] With payment-in-lieu-of-tax agreements in hand, Noble Environmental Power hopes in September to start raising wind turbines in Altona, Clinton and Ellenburg. Following almost five months of deliberation and negotiation that involved each taxing jurisdiction where windmills would be located, the IDA voted unanimously to set the annual payment in lieu of taxes (PILOT) at $5,000 per megawatt of electricity produced by the 1.5-megawatt towers, which would number a total 189.
