AAER Opens Wind Turbine Nacelle Assembly and Blade Mfg Plant

AAER Inc. has signed a ten-year lease agreement for the former Hyundai factory located in Bromont, Quebec, in which AAER will assemble nacelles, beginning in mid-2007.

At the end of 2007, AAER will acquire more space to manufacture composite blades. The plant’s production capacity is estimated at 400 wind turbines per year. Under the agreement with Olymbec Inc. — the owner of the buildings that housed the former Hyundai plant — is an option for an additional five years. The agreement enables AAER to focus on vertical integration of the company’s manufacturing capabilities. AAER, which integrates, manufactures, distributes and maintains high-capacity wind turbines (1 to 1.5-megawatts), has entered into certain limited and nonexclusive licensing arrangements with regard to certain Fuhrlaender wind turbine technology.
