A-Power Delivers First Wind Turbines

A-Power Energy Generation Systems Ltd. has delivered the first 10 units of its 2.7-megawatt (MW) wind turbines to project developers in China.

On September 16, 2009, the company signed a contract to develop a 49.5-MW wind farm in the township of Saiwusu, Guba County, Inner Mongolia, for the Urat Rear Banner-based Jihe Orient Wind Energy Co., Ltd. The first 5 turbines were delivered this week.

On October 14, 2009, the Company signed another contract to develop a 19.5-MW wind farm in the Donggang, Rizhao City of Shandong Province. The first 5 turbines for this wind farm were also delivered this week.

This follows news last week that A-Power completed the acquisition of Evatech, a designer and manufacturer of industrial equipment for LCDs (liquid crystal displays), PDPs (plasma display panels) and, more recently, amorphous-silicon (a-Si) photovoltaic (PV) panels. The company also has plans to develop a 600-MW wind project in Texas.
